Soccer Success Story: Maddie Zimmerman and Annie Mason

During Easter weekend our soccer players were putting their skills to the test in the Desert Cup Soccer Showcase Series in Phoenix, AZ. The Beach FC G98 Gold Nunes U16 SCDSL team came back with the FIRST place win of the tournament.

Two Champion’s QUEST athletes were a part of this accomplishment: Maddie Zimmerman and Annie Mason. Both athletes show tremendous work ethic to better themselves on and off the field.

Annie MasonAnnie first came to Champion’s QUEST in July of 2015 with short goals to improve her speed, agility, and strength and long term goals of playing in college as goalkeeper.  Annie has pushed her athleticism by increasing her athletic score by 88%. This has included improving her lateral agility from 12.14s to 10.70s and her linear agility from 12.96s to 9.32s. Annie has also improved in her single leg agility from 8.10s to 5.33s. Lastly, her strength has increased from 21 to 28 push-ups.

Annie has pushed herself into a fantastic keeper by being stronger, more agile and more vocal. This improvement has been shown by this tournament. Annie received a shut-out for the whole tournament, which consisted of four games. Annie currently plays of Los Alamitos High School and received 20 shut-outs this past season as well.

Maddie’s effort has shown with a 274% improvement in her athletic score.
During the tournament weekend, Maddie played to her strength by creating numerous opportunities for her teammates with multiple assists.

Outside of gym and field Maddie has shown hard work in the classroom at Long Beach Poly. She is currently in the PACE program (Program of Additional Curricular Experiences), which is one of the top academic programs in the state and produces the highest number of UC-school acceptances in the state of California.
