Angela Garcia, originally from Hanford, California joined our team at Champion’s Quest in 2015. She began playing soccer at the age of 5. Although soccer was her favorite, she also ran track. She attended San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, California, where she was a part of the varsity soccer and track & field teams all four years. During her freshman year, her team won the Valley Championship. She was also named 1st team All-League and All-Valley her junior and senior years. During her track career, she competed in the 100m and 200m races. She placed 1st in the league championships both races as a sophomore and senior.
After High School, she was recruited to play soccer at Cal Poly Pomona, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science, and continued her soccer career from the years 2009-2012. During her four years at Cal Poly Pomona, she was named CCAA Honorable Mention and NCAA All-West Region Second Team. She also served as the captain her junior and senior years. After finishing her soccer career, she was asked to run for the track team for the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay. During just one season, she accomplished her goal of going to National’s in Pueblo, Colorado. Also during her first and only season, she won the CCAA conference titles in the 100m and 200m. She also received the NCAA Division II All-West Region team from U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and holds the number 3 spot in the Cal Poly Pomona Record book for both the 100m and 200m.
Since graduating with her Bachelor’s in 2013, she went on to obtain her Master’s degree in Sports Performance Enhancement at Cal State Fullerton. During her graduate program, she worked for EM Speed and Power as a performance coach and also interned for the University of California Irvine’s Strength and Conditioning Center. She specifically worked with women’s soccer, women’s golf, men’s golf, men’s tennis, and men’s water polo. She currently holds her CSCS certification. Since earning this certification she worked with Cal State LA’s women’s soccer team as as strength and conditioning coach. She hopes to obtain her USA-Weightlifting certification as well as the Performance Enhancement Specialist Certification (PES).
“I was able to conquer my dream as a collegiate athlete through the aid of great coaches and trainers. My passion is to help athletes with their dreams of becoming a collegiate athlete or to be the best they can be based on the demands of their sport. Influencing the lives of young athletes is the greatest accomplishment I could ever have.”
-She has two dogs, a Siberian Husky and a Jack Russel mix.
-She has a brother in the U.S. Air Force and a sister who is a Registered Nurse (RN).
-Her favorite movie is Sandlot.
